Commercial Description:
Urthel Samaranth 12 Quadrium Ale is a malty, full-bodied special Ale, brewed in a way that only Belgian Brewers can. Huge mouthfeel and layers and levels of flavor make Urthel Samaranth the perfect beer for the end of a meal or at the finish of a special day. And when you want something different, Urthel Samaranth 12 Quadrium Ale is with its fine bitterness, definitely something different... Try it! First brewed at Van Steenberge, now brewed at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.

A peachy amber color with a slight haze from bottle conditioning and pours without a huge, fluffy head that is common in Belgian ales. A rich, buttery, pure caramel aroma with complementary, tropical fruit. This is a touch of cork in this beer but not to the point of disturbing the palate. In fact it helps to balance the beer from being overly cloying. The aroma and flavor are quite similar in this dessert-style beer. I recommend sharing this with someone because the sweetness can fatigue you palate to the point of boredom.

Bottle. High white and good looking head. Hazy orange body. Once again the "muddy waters" malt aroma that a lot of brewers seem to like. Why ? The flavor does indeed have some alcohol but I would not have guessed on 11.5. Actually the flavor is quite smooth and well rounded malt and pleasant hops. Pleasant surprise (apart from the aroma).

Pours a cloudy amber color with a thick, frothy white head. Aroma of yeast, fruits, spices with some sweetness. Good flavor of yeast, fruits, spices with sweetness and a bitter finish. The body is light with an oily texture and soft carbonation. It is good and enjoyable but somewhat it doesn’t inspire me to give a better rating than this, maybe the malt could be richer and thicker.

Aroma isn’t that much. A little floral fruitiness. The head is fairly porous and only somewhat tasty. A very nice flavor that doesn’t come off that strong. Is sweet, has the alcohol and surprisingly, a little metal taste to the finish. A little expensive.

Bottle, Københavnske Øldage 2006. Light amber. Average orange head. For an ale this strong it is quite nice. Mellow bitterness and caramelly sweet malts. Nice smooth finish. In all a wonderful beer.

Pours slightly hazy golden with uneven white head. Nose is caramel/toffee and spicy yeast, honey. Flavor heavily balanced toward honey and caramel malt. Strong alcohol bite that has some fusels in it. Thin mouthfeel. Middling effort.

750 ml bottle. Pours opaque amber with off white slightly foamy head.A strong aroma of dried fruits such as raisen and a yeasty bread dough and molasses and maybe a hint of orange. The feel is like a thin syrup with a taste of fresh yeast bread with a hint of orange marmalade that is sweet but not too sweet without a noticable alcohol taste.I was a little disappointed in this brew.
