The aroma is pretty bland (hints of yeast): it’s hard to tell what’s coming. The palate is thin and crisp, with flavors of apple, citrus, and yeast. The carbonation level and combination of flavors render this one similar to a champagne of sorts. Refreshing and enjoyable, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. arjoseph (594), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 14, 2004 Bottle into tulip glass; purchased at Discount Licquor (Milwaukee). Overall: pretty standard/lackluster. The details: smelled of yeast, banana, skunk, and an old doilie. Produced a HUGE peachish head, disipating rockily. Poured reddish orange in the glass, murky. Big bubble lacing, quite nice. Tasted of nectarines with grapefruit sourness, but not a whole bunch of acidity (if you can picture that). Also, some candy sweetness that didn’t seem right. Medium to full bodied, well balanced, lively carbonation was a bit much. If the flavors were stronger, the texture would have fit, but as it was, it felt too heavy/fizzy. When I frist started tasting beer, I never thought I’d say this, but I’m really starting to like Belgium Strong Ales. This one I partiuclary enjoyed. Nice yellowish-orange color with a slightly tan head. Strong fruit on the nose and in the taste, and extrmeley refreshing. Volgon (2489), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Light sour cherry and lemon with a touch of barnyard in the aroma. Lively carbonation. A bit too sour tasting with some acidity. Bov (5455), Bienne, Switzerland

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 23, 2004 Massive foamy off-white head, I am talking 9/10ths of the glass here. An interesting aroma, yeast, aged cheddar, earth, and a bit of citrus. Toffee and caramel along with some breadiness constitute the flavors which are totally unexpected given the aroma. Medium bodied with a quick finish. Just OK. fly (1332), austin, Tejas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 14, 2004 Wow, had this one night and thought it was a bit harsh (if that’s the right term) I think what it was is just having had SO many beers that night that I really wasn’t up for another BIG one. Well, it is a big one, but that’s more in the complexity and craft. Very well made beer of a rather earthy variety, but with some peppery quality and fruitiness and a soft body. Well enjoyed.
