Lots of the previous raters have got most of the elements of this beer. Yes it is very malty, yes it does have a strong hop presence. But I have spent the day drinking live cask and bottled conditioned beer. At the heart of it is a candy sugar dead tasting beer and no amount of malt or hop can make up for that. British brewers, please bottle condition your beers. Please, pretty please. I want to enjoy your beer as it should be, not this fake. Trust us. Malt and hop are good though Jukkabro (3021), Tampere, Finland
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 24, 2006 Dark amber colored, medium sized beige head. Lively carbonation. Sweetness, caramel, hops and mild bitterness in aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is stronger than aroma: starts with mild caramel, turns out to have strongly dry and bitter aftertaste, which lasts. Strongly hopped, almost too much. sayravai (3733), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2006 (Bottled) Clear, dark copper color with a smallish, foamy and lacy head. Toffee-malty aroma with some nutty English hops. Dry and bitter-hoppy, nutty and oaky flavor with sweet, balancing toffee. Light to medium-bodied, dry and slightly harsh palate with medium, fizzy carbonation. A quite typical, clean, dry and hoppy British ale. I prefer more fruitiness and less harsh hopping, though. gunnfryd (3590), Kristiansand, Norway
