The head is nice and golden and leaves a nice lace. The color should be ruby, just like a red wine, but it’s dark brown. The aroma is sweet and malty and the flavour is very sweet, especially in the beginning. It has notes of malt, caramel, dark fruit and some spice. It has a slightly bitter finish. It’s a nice after dinner beer.

(500 ml bottle at The Golden Days, Göteborg) Clear dark brown color, creamy tan head. Fruity and sweet scent. Rich raissin and alcohol taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Sweet with burnt malt aftertaste. A bit harsh bitterenss, husky and grainy.

Bottle. Nice dark red colour, nearly burgundy. Aroma is dominated by caramel, having roasted and slightly smoked tones as well. Flavour is likewise dominated by caramel, but with some hazel and plum-like finishes. It has a wonderful way of circulating the caramel arong slight bitterness and fruitiness, never making the caramel too much.

Bottle. "The 1999 Vintage Ale". Lovely brown red colour with a fair lasting head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, bit fruity and hoppy. Flavour is caramellic, hoppy, roasted malts, some chocolate and nuts too, slightly spiced. Bit sweet and bitter finish. A tasty ale!

This beer really is deep ruby red. It has a nice bitterness and a luring caramell maltyness I for one don’t mind. However does feel a little thin if I recall correctly, also s biy boring (in lack of a better word). Might have again to re-rate.

Aroma: fruity, syrup, honey, lovely malt, dates, some hops, alcohol, grapes. Apperance: stark orange red (clear), yellowish white foam that sets quickly. Flavor: initially metallic, pretty bitter, apply afterharshness, vinous, some sweetness (raisinlike), mineral, slightly salty. Palate: very good, dry and rolling, rough.

Bottled. Dark golden with an off-white head leaving nice lacings. Sweet, caramel aroma with a vinous fruityness. The flavor has lots of sweetness, along with malt and hops. Full-bodied and sweet, with a finsih consisting of both malts and hops. Worked well with semi-soft cheese. (060428)
