Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor. The finish is dry.

(Bottle 30 cl) Courtesy of MiP. Vintage 2005. Hazy, reddish brown with big, floating impurities and a small, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and dried fruit. Rather full-bodied with some sweetish, roasted malt. The finish is dry. OK, but not exactly outstanding. 230807

30 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a reddish and deep glare. Holds a light tan and slowly collapsing tan head. Breadish and roasted malt aroma with a mild spice note. Breadish, malty and somewhat spiced. Smooth roasted and malty finish.

2006 bottle, 6.5%. Strong, sweet and peppery aroma with a little dust and nice butter. Very dark brown colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is nicely malty and slightly roasted. Finishes on a good dusty note. Well-rounded, well-balanced and nice. 7 3 7 4 18

2005 bottle, 2 years old. Bready aroma. Clear dark red/brown colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is slightly bready with a hint of metal. There is also some cream and green apple in there. Rough bitterness. 7 3 7 3 17

Beautiful deep dark color with some red tones, no head. Malty cherryaroma. Roasted malt flavor. Absolutely dry beer, but maybe a bit thin. Some hidden apple fruitiness. Not as great as some raters might suggest, but still a good beer, worth a try.

Bottle. [thank you, Skortila/caesar]
Pours deep opaque red-brown with a fine, creamy and rather fizzy off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with plums and quite a lot of spices. Fine, rather light mouthfeel. Flavour is nice, quite roasted, good sweet chocolate, fine hoppiness. Nice, dry finish. A very good bock, but not a touch on the La Trappe.

Re-rate, 10-26-03: I re-rated this at the Amsterdam Bockbierfestival. And it was actually the only bock worth coming to Amsterdam. The others were average or underaverage. The aroma is rather spicy. Dark brown color, beige creamy head, very good lace. Sweet, full, roasted, chocolat and coffee, very soft. 11-28-98, 3.0: just an average bock.
