Bottle -- Deep cloudy yellow with active carbonation and lots of lees. Large fluffy white head that doesn’t last long but never totally disappears and leaves some lacing. Sweet, fruity aroma with yeast and a bit of spice and citrus. Flavour is smooth and light with some honey and some sourness. It actually reminds me of a deluxe version of a Belgian witbier.

Bottle. Average fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Clear sparkling body with a golden color and moderated particles in flow. Very Val-Dieu’is yeast aroma with notes of light spice, coriander, fruit, caramel and citrus. Light bodied with an average carbonation. Light sweet flavor with hint of acidic and bitter notes as well that was all very balanced combined. Light sweet finish.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Also available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6%. Brewed in the abbey. Secondary fermentation in the bottle. Hazy golden colour, no head, minimal carbonation. The bottle cap can’t have been air tight - a part of the glass rim was missing. The aroma and flavour were okay, though. Yeasty, sweetish, fruity and spicy aroma, notes of leather and oak too. Fruity and spicy flavour, quite nice. Soft mouthfeel, due to lack of carbonation. Will need to try another bottle.

Sweet, headily fruity snout with hints of lemon rind, peach, orange and alcohol. Possibly a pinch of coriander. Fruity, spicy Blond with a parting note of woodsy dryness. Slightly wheaty and hazy. Leaning towards a Wit. Lots of alcohol for the ABV. Smooth and heavily sedimented. Tasty table blond but nothing to rush back to. (Re-rate)... Intermission from xmas shopping, Cafe Bruxelles, Leiscum. Didn’t think I’d had this. Spritzy, lagery gold absolutely heaped with froth. Woodsy witbier aroma with tropical fruit, peach, pineapple, lemon jelly. Silky spruce, pineneedle-earthy hops and yeasty tang. Creamy pale malt and biscuit with vanilla hints. Top drawer ’Blonde’ big on flavour and drinkability, and upped from a 3.3 to a 3.8.

Bottle from Val Dieu sampler. Pours with a very short-lived, bubbly head. The color is deep golden, looking very similar to a Duvel, but with lots of cloudy yeast sediment. Smell is yeasty, strong, cinammon and coriander. It tastes spicy and bitter, once again cinammon, pepper, and some citrus.Overall, its very similar to Duvel only a little weaker and a lot sweeter.
