Apple aroma. Not the most flavorfull beer in the world. Some hints of apple and maybe some spice. Wonderfully light and enjoyable though. Subtlety wins! willblake (2189), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Bready aromas, slight funk, wheaty esters abound, clove, mulch. Palate is soft and very effervescent. A bit tinny, earthy hops, more clove, musty. Not great, not complex, but drinkable and refreshing. dornoy (681), Lyngby, Denmark

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 3, 2005 Sweet citrus and banana reminiscent phenols dominate the aroma. Val-Dieu blonde is only slightly hazy straw to gold yellow. Head is white, not lacing much. On the palate, almost excessive carbonation enhances the absence of complexity this beer proposes. Mild cloves and vanilla undertones fail to provide any exciting spiciness while the bubblegummy esters provide a sweetness that only the strong effervescence tries to control. Hmm, very mellow, phenolic and ordinary belgian ale. I didn’t expect any masterpiece, but certainly more malt depth would have been welcomed in that underhopped belgian. Lots of weizen character in that one. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Fine lively beer with a light hazy yellow color and with a good white head. Fresh aroma’s with a faint citrussy accent and some touches of hops and fresh herbs. Refreshing mouthfeel with some citrus, pils-malts, blank wet wood (birch), hops and grass.
