Pours deep bronze with a soapy tan head. The aroma has bready malt, molasses, anise and big time yeast. Full bodied with a very smooth lush feel along with a good amount of soft carbonation. The flavor starts with smooth caramel, sourdough, toffee, earthy yeast and then the finish brings in some sharpness and astringency. A decent dubbel, but not up to the great examples.

Brown ruby red color that is hazy and yeast sediment floating. Aroma is yeasty. Bready flavor with smooth hopiness. Can barely taste the high alcohol content.

Keg on tap at Au Vieul, Aubel, Belgium. Clouded brown with white head. Tart and sharp Abbey Dubbel with a late fruity sweetness, some berry fruit, we thought bilberries at the time for some reason. Another pretty unrefined beer, but decent enough in a pretty remarkable old pub, a must see.

Brown colour, big frothy beige head. Aroma is raisins and raspberries. Taste is of raspberries and raisins as well, which makes it pleasantly sour. Lacks complexity to really stand out.

Bottle, 33 cl. (taste this first @ beerfestival Zwevegem last year) Now @ home again (bottle from Willems). Dark brown color, beige head. Aroma yeast, roasted malts. Medium to full body. Taste roasted caramel, yeast, malts, sweet and alcoholic finish.
