Mahogany appearance with a large, tan head and decent lacing. Initial aroma was musty, but caramel malts rode to the rescue. Sometimes, one of those weird descriptions gets stuck in your mind, in this case it’s a root beer float. Odd. Sweet from start to finish, with a slight metallic taste toward the end.

On tap at my local brewpub. Dark amber body. The aroma is light toasted bread with some some banana peels. The taste is cooked peaches with a hint of nutmeg. The thin mouthfeel slightly detracts from the overall experience.

A solid, solid dubbel. It is mild and deep at the same time, welcoming the drinker sip by sip by sip as its flavors unfold. An excellent beer for introducing "virgins" to the joys of Belgian beer--no harsh flavors but lots of subtlety.

(bottle) Dark amber colour with a big frothy off-white head and nice lace. Aroma of caramellish malts and yeast. Medium body and carbonation with a creamy texture. Malty start with soft sweetness while the alcohol is detectable. Soft, dry and roastmalty finish. Well made Dubbel.

Bottle Deep brown body. Off-white, creamy head. Good lace. Nose of malts. Light bitter, light sweet flavour. Just another abbey dubbel.

Poured a golden brown with a nice head. There was lacing along the glass as the beer was drunk. Malt and caramel. Smooth beer with slightly bitter finish, but the bitterness does not linger. Good beer.

Aroma of sweet malt, toffee and caramel, cloudy pomegranate, pours a huge, firm, toffee head, yards of lace. Flavour has bitter malts, rich caramel, treacle, almonds and red plums. Complex, extremely well balanced, very smooth, with an appreciated bitterness. Sensational! Thanks Michael Robis of Chester’s.

Brown colour with a off-white head. Sweet yeasty fruity aroma and a sweet light alcoholic taste. Medium body and a sweet light alcoholic finish.
