Lots of lacing on this clear bodied brew. Aroma is nice with significant fruit in the nose and malt. Flavor is of dried fuit, sliglthy sweet initial flavor and yeast. Not a bad beer. Palare is also nice and substantial. kwoeltje (1321), Manchester, Missouri, USA

Balanced well by a strong alcohol flavour. Aroma and flavour have a hint of horse or goat, but it suits the beer OK. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2004 Burgundy in color with a large healthy white head that laced the glass very well. The head retained well and morphed into a plateau of head that stayed until the last sip. It was quite odd.
The nose, which was one of the issues of this beer, was descent. It showcases dark fruits, nuts, some spices and toasted grains.
Chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and frosting were all around. This was pretty well hopped Belgian as well. However, I found it to be a little to thin in the mouth for it to taste great.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 1, 2004 Nice and dark with lofty crisp champagne head and a little cloudiness. Fresh green apple aroma with musky mature yeasts. Very smooth, mellow malts with a slight apple and prune zing. Carbonation is a matter of perfection. Very clean and very refreshing. Alcohol is not stated but the buzz is appreciated. No bitter quality. No alcohol acridity. No annoying hops. Just natural, liberated, fermented and thuroughly appeciated beer. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 17, 2004 Malty and vinuous, raisins, alcoholic vapors. Dark red-brown clear with off-white foamy lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation, carbonic burn. Malty fruity start, raisin, cherry-almond essence, alcohol. Finish has sweetness but the tang of molasses, light acidity. Alcohol. After is cherry-almond sweet, just a little bitter. Decent dubbel.
