Malty and vinuous, raisins, alcoholic vapors. Dark red-brown clear with off-white foamy lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation, carbonic burn. Malty fruity start, raisin, cherry-almond essence, alcohol. Finish has sweetness but the tang of molasses, light acidity. Alcohol. After is cherry-almond sweet, just a little bitter. Decent dubbel.

Bottle pours dark cherry, off-white foamy head, super sticky lacing, with fairly strong carbonation.   Lovely belgian candi sugar, yeast, and must on the nose.   Earth, basement, candi sugar, and a slight dark pitted fruit on the tongue.   Good body, slightly creamy mouthfeel.   Finishes with a bit more earth, slightly smokey, with a mild sweetness.   Tasty!

On tap. Poured a dark Mahogany color with a small off white head. Malty and fruity aroma and tastes. Lightly sweet. Smokey and musty. Alcohol content well hidden. I enjoyed this one.

Had this right after having an NB Abbey and I can not understand the disparity in ratings- this beer is far superior to the NB. Mouthfeel was far superior, depth was far superior. Far superior indeed.

Bottle. Dark brownish-red, average head that never quite foes away fully. Some vanilla, yeast, faint hints of dark malts. The mouthfeel seems a little bit crusty...this could benefit from some more sharpness of feel, or some more alcohol-sting. Unchallenging and not a good representative of the style.

A sample of one of my favorite styles from an as-yet untried brewer...this is always fun! Color is a deep, dark, gorgeous red, and the head is a thick, full, frothy off-whitish hue. Aroma: jam-packed with with spice, vanilla, cola nuts. (I can’t shake off a certain similarity to Coca-Cola, as much as I’d like to!) Lush and luscious mouthfeel, fueled by tingly, sparkling hops. Aflood with earthy, yeasty feeling, and rich, satisfying malt. Just delicious! Tantalizing on the tongue, with flavor fully realized. This little stubby 11.2 oz. bottle depletes far too briefly!

Thick, creamy, coffee-cream coloured head, slightly irregular; opaque dark brown but with amber shine at the edges. Bit of (sweet) chocolate in the nose; fresh, herbal smell, also musky, but not very powerfull. Sweet, liquorice-like taste, even with a flavour as the aroma of stale, old dry black tea. Again, faint sweet chocolate. Remarkably thinnish texture, I suspect lots of candi sugar, not necessarily dark, fully attenuated. But it ill fits the character of the beer. Sorry to say, but this is lacklustre without being bad on any point. Dreary, even inbalanced, whereas microbrewers ought to excell if they want to concurrence the big ones.
