Mar 15, 2008 brown amber body with a very big active soapy head that never completely went away. Takes patience for the foam to go down enough to drink. Aroma is big and delicious. It is fruity sweet malt with raisin and whiskey. Flavor is complex fruit, caramel, and sweet malt. Alcohol can be tasted and felt but it is not overpowering. A very nice Dubbel.

Mar 7, 2008 Bottle at Steelgaarden in Bethlehem, PA. Pours a hazy brown with a nice beige head. Aroma of vodka soaked raisens and plums. Medium bodied with typical Belgian earthy texture. Flavor of dark fruits, maple, dark candi sugar, and vanilla. Yeasty finish with a small but pleasant amount of alcohol. Balanced and not overly complex, but very enjoyable.

Feb 29, 2008 Updated: Jan 14, 20090.33 l bottle. Hazy brown color with a nice head. Aroma is sweety roasted malt and some fruity nose. The roasted malt dominates the flavour (coffe and chocolate things) on a nice caramel and fruity-raisin taste. Good, balanced carbonation, complex beer. Nice aftertaste with some fine herbal notes, toffee and caramel

Feb 21, 2008 Disappointed, just a tad more body & complexity than a Newcastle plus some added bitterness. Decent finish, but the midpalate is very lacking.

Feb 5, 2008 On tap at The Rake, Borough Market. Belgian yeast, ok dar malts on aroma. Slightly sour on aroma balances sweetish malts with a little more sour on the finish. Decent brune with some character.

Jan 31, 2008 Bottle. Dark reddish brown with huge and long lasting pale brown head. Aroma sweet malty and bread after a while in the glass dried fruits.
Taste very sweet and malty, again the dried fruits gets prominent after a while. Well hidden alcohol. All in all a nice beer but maybe lacking some complexity.

Jan 27, 2008 Dark brown pour, thick one-inch white head. Nose of dark fruit. Sweet and malty taste, very much a dubbel. Pleasantly effervescent mouthfeel. Excellent.

Jan 27, 2008 This one is much better than the blond... excellent color with minimal head. Nothing special about this one and is an average Dubbel or brown. Alcohol is blended very well and has a rich medley of dried fruit and light chocolate tones. Definately worth trying.
