Borresteijn (1347), Amstelveen, Netherlands Jan 4, 2009 33cl Bottle. Pours nice dark reddish brown with a creamy off-white head. Sweet full malty aroma with notes of yeast, red wine, dark fruits, alcohol. Flavour is malty sweet, a little yeast, dark fruits, a bit of chocolate with a sweet alcohol finish and a hint of bitterness. Fullbodied, creamy mouthfeel. Very nice beer. Nice dark colour. Sweet, fruity nose. Caramel and sugary taste. Very nice and apropos for the holidays. jhliesen (403), West Melbourne, Florida, USA Dec 31, 2008 Bottle--Dark, dark brown color with a small head and medium lasting head. Aroma was slight, but was mostly raisins. The taste was full of malts with some caramel taste and slight carbonation. Produce place. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 27, 2008 Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a large creamy brown head. The aroma was malty with undertone of sweettart candies snf root beer. The flavor was tart and malty with notes of ripe fruits and brown sugar. The finish was long , malty, fruity and again had a touch of rootbeer. Odd but good. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 1, 2008 Thanks to Redlight for the taste. Lots of dark fruits and biscuit flavors, almost like a Fig Newton. A slight bit of vanilla in there, too. Brown with a white head, and light on the alcohol. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2008 Corked and bailed 0.75L bottle. The cork took a cork screw to remove and it has 02/10 printed on it. Not sure what that means. Poured deep brown with amber hues and fairly off white head leaving nice lacing behind in the glass. The mild aroma has notes of mildly musty dark fruitiness, some lemon sweet/tart candy and hints of yeast. A longer draw brings up Belgian candi sugar and some alcohol heat. The taste has bold and rich dark fruitiness from figs, dates, ripe plums, raisins and a murmuring of black pepper. About midway a dose of allspice, coriander and clove break through the dark fruit dominated flavor and then proceed to fade away into the finish. The dark fruitiness and pepper really don’t let up until deep into the after taste (or next morning). GonZoBeeR (2154), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Oct 31, 2008 Aroma:Sour, red fruit,yeats...
