Dark brown clear pour with light tan head. Notes of raisin and a hint of alcohol in the aroma. Flavor of molassis and plum and cough syrup. Medium velvet body with a hot finish.

750ml bottle from World of Beer Largo. Pours a dark brown to black with a thin white-tan head that dissipates quickly. Some lacing through the beer. Smells sweet and malty with hints of raisin, bread, wood, and faint chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel with flavors of malt, sweet toffee, and chocolate. Full-bodied with a lingering slightly bitter finish. Alcohol is not overpowering even at 10.5%. Nice beer.

well my beer seems to be a bit different than everyone elses. 750 cork and wire, with label design just as similar as the other bottles in the series except the bottom part is black and states Grand Cru. 10.5% as well and the cork is dated 09/08. First of all the major difference is my beer pours black, Small grey head. Aroma is very present, woodsy, spiced with some candi sweetness. Its a real specific aroma but I cant fully describe it. Its still definitely young and I would follow the brewmasters advice. By the way this bottle doesnt have this description. Taste is pruney Belgian sweetness. Nice sweet and tasty. The body is a bit thin for this style. Low bitterness and a slightly undercarbonated mouthfeel. But still nice even for a young brew, so I could only imagine it getting better.

Lumpfest 2008- Murky russet colored with a soapy head. Dark fruit in the nose. Heavy deep dark fruit in the mouth and not balanced very well. Feels murky and unbalanced.

Bottle. Pour is a nice brown with a dense tan head. Aromas are of nuts, burnt sugar and dark fruit. Flavor is a nice mix of the above with a high dose of alcohol that burns a bit around the edges. I would probably like this much better if the alcohol mellowed a bit, but at 10.5% I guess I have to resign myself to its presence. Extra high abv holds this back a bit in my opinion.

bottle at the beer bistro, labled as Winter Beer. Wow, this stuff is nice. very dark brown, HUGE tan head. aroma is Banana and dried berries and lots of yeast. sipped it and let it warm in my had, the alcohol is hidden nicely, but you can tell its there, nice and warm feeling follows. Amazing beer to just curl up with and enjoy on a cold night.
