33cl Bottle. Pours nice dark reddish brown with a creamy off-white head. Sweet full malty aroma with notes of yeast, red wine, dark fruits, alcohol. Flavour is malty sweet, a little yeast, dark fruits, a bit of chocolate with a sweet alcohol finish and a hint of bitterness. Fullbodied, creamy mouthfeel. Very nice beer.

bottle at the beer bistro, labled as Winter Beer. Wow, this stuff is nice. very dark brown, HUGE tan head. aroma is Banana and dried berries and lots of yeast. sipped it and let it warm in my had, the alcohol is hidden nicely, but you can tell its there, nice and warm feeling follows. Amazing beer to just curl up with and enjoy on a cold night.

750mL bottle (2009) into an abbey glass. Pours cloudy reddish-brown with chunks floating all over the place. The aroma is sour Belgian with a backing hint of caramel, biscuit, and nuttiness. The flavor is extremely sweet with brown sugar, caramel, and a hint of sour laced with copper. The body is medium and the carbonation is high.

Best by 06/06. No bottling date. Dark brown/black. Small, fizzy, off white head quickly disappears. Nose- yeast, alcohol, dark fruits, subtle anise, spices. Same flavors with a backbone of rich, roasty, caramel malt. Medium/full body, balanced carbonation. Excellent. Best Val Dieu I’ve had by a mile.
