SamA (1), Vancouver, Washington, USA does not count Nov 22, 2005 Love it. Strong mellow drink. 10.5 suggests Hops on first taste. Dry fruit added? Tasty. Found on tap Portland Or Horse Brass pub. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jan 26, 2007 Updated: Jun 5, 2007bottle at the beer bistro, labled as Winter Beer.
Wow, this stuff is nice. very dark brown, HUGE tan head. aroma is Banana and dried berries and lots of yeast. sipped it and let it warm in my had, the alcohol is hidden nicely, but you can tell its there, nice and warm feeling follows. Amazing beer to just curl up with and enjoy on a cold night. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Nov 12, 2007 Updated: Sep 11, 2008Absolutely lovely. A fantastically smooth quadrupel. Very dark - even darker than a Belgian stout - with a very thin head. Almost no traces of yeast or maltiness, but instead very full fruity flavors of raisins; almost dates. Very long finish which shows off the very rare ’dark yet clean’ quality. Damico (162), Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA May 15, 2009 It’s so great unscrewing the cork top and opening up a Belgian like this that you never heard of to bring an unexpected aroma of sweet apple orchards. That flavor tames itself and the apple flavor comes in more subtle than the smell as it finishes on the palate. The flavor is a fresh strong ale just like you were in Belgium if you closed your eyes. Crisp and delicious! Lyncham (48), Ohio, USA Oct 20, 2009 Very nice complexity. The beer has a nice sweet aroma of roasted malts, and spices. The beer tastes like it smell but with a bit of a chocolate flavor. The beet has a great alcohol content to go with the spices that would make it a good winter warmer Perkeo (318), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 4, 2006 Dark but not black ale, extreme cork pop but surprisingly no gushing. Pours easy, slight lacey head, interesting nose of....grape soda! HUGE. On the palate, nice and boozy, some rum notes, plus the grape thing from the nozum. I like this alot and will buy all I can! DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 2, 2007 Bottle from State Line. Pours hazy deep rubyish dark brown with 2-finger khaki head. Aroma of spicy nutmeggy malt, figs, toffee, cognac, port wine. Tastes roasty malty, with figs, sweet dark chocolate, nutmeg, prune, some funky yeasty notes. The palate is dense, smooth, amazingly complex, and I didn’t notice a lick of alcohol in this. Wonderful. HenrikSoegaard (4263), Randers, Denmark May 20, 2008 Bottle. Creamy off-white excellent fully lasting head. Dark amber colour. Heavy malty and hoppy aroma with eveything in it but the kitchensink. Powerfull bitter and sweet flavor. Long spicey finish. Perfect creamy palate. Fantastic beer.
