Dark mahogany brown, frothy big bubbled head. Ginger, spice. Malty and a touch of tobacco. A bit of melon in the flavor. Surprisingly light body. A bit sweet. Alcohol covered well.

Bottled. 75cl. Aroma has caramel malts, dried fruits, some nuts. Hazy, dark brown coloured with an off-white, lasting head. Taste is sweet, caramel malty with dried fruits, some toffee and nuts. Good beer.

A deep clear brown ale with mahoganny hues, and a super thick frothy light moka head. A nice aroma of sweet malt with catnip and Brett notes. In mouth, a sweet candy sugar with light licorice, woody notes, and Brett. A bit too sweet but overall good. Rich and oily. Tasted January 2009. Bieropholie import.

Sweet malt aroma that is good but lacks complexity. Flavor has some light charcoal and that lightly sweet Val Dieu house flavor. Dark brown appearance with lots of sediment. Like other Val Dieu beers, this one has a way of offering a heavy, powerful beer with refreshing qualities as well.

Bottle. Pours out a dark brown color with a thick brown head on it. Smell is full of plums, fruits, yeast, and sugars. Taste is sweet and smooth, and somewhat strong at first, but it lessens after the bottle is half done (shock there). Good level of carbonation, interesting, but pales in comparison to Chimay, Ommegang, and Rochefort 8. Good stuff from an easy to find brewery.

Oh yeah now this a winter brew. This was quite warming going down.Aromas of winter in a bottle.Nutmeg, coriander and some others I can’t quite put my finger on.Mouthfeel was a little heavy but not brutal. This was very enjoyable and will be getting more.
