On tap @ Power Plant Strong Ale festival. Red wine vinegar, chocolate malt, vanilla, oak, light cherry aroma. Hazy red color with lots of floaties. Taste is malty with cherries & red wine vinegar (but not too tart), brown sugar, cinamon, and spice. Tasty.

Much thanks to Sycamore for bringing two of these to our table! Lovely and malty with strong caramel tones. Really nice grand cru, one of my favorite styles.

Bottled. Dark amber colour with mediumsized white head. Aroma is licorace, yeast and malts along with alcohol. Flavour is dominated by plum, yeast and toffee. Alcohol and malty hints are in background. Very wellbalanced beer and great palate.

Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. pours dark bronze/black with red hue and a small white head. Aroma of fruit, belgian yeast and spices, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet, very smooth, fruit, spices, light bready notes. Good beer.

Nice medium, toasted-malt flavor, with a great, smooth mouthfeel (not too thick, not to thin). Slightly sweet, but well-balanced. Very enjoyable.

750ml bottle, cork is dated 03/09 (fairly sure this is a best by date). So it goes. Richly sweet, indulgent aroma, with suggestions of plum, cherry, red grape, dark chocolate and molasses, along with lighter notes of dried flowers, bubblegum esters and roasty malt. Deep red-brown color, clear, with a lasting, fine, light tan head. Flavor follows the aroma very closely, with darkly sweet, sugary malts dominating fairly easily, blended with dried fruit, candyish tones, faint spice, earth and peppery alcohol along with a very slight degree of tangy bitterness late. Lingering raisin and carob. Palate is a bit syrupy and thick with creamy effervescence and a truly full body. A little one-sided to be included with the best of the style, but a worth a try to be certain.
