Draught: Poured a dark chocolate brown color with a beige creamy head. Sweet candy aroma. The taste is a sweet dark malt flavor finishes dry and rich with chocolate caramel. Hints of nuts as it warmed up.

75cl bottle @ Delices de caprices. Pours a dark brown with a reddish hew and a creamy head and lacings. Nose is yeast, bubblegum, port, dried fruits, and caramel. Full bodied. Smooth and sticky. Taste is liquorice, yeast, plum and citric notes. Warmth from alcohol. A true sipper. Nice.

Corked and bailed 0.75L bottle. The cork took a cork screw to remove and it has 02/10 printed on it. Not sure what that means. Poured deep brown with amber hues and fairly off white head leaving nice lacing behind in the glass. The mild aroma has notes of mildly musty dark fruitiness, some lemon sweet/tart candy and hints of yeast. A longer draw brings up Belgian candi sugar and some alcohol heat. The taste has bold and rich dark fruitiness from figs, dates, ripe plums, raisins and a murmuring of black pepper. About midway a dose of allspice, coriander and clove break through the dark fruit dominated flavor and then proceed to fade away into the finish. The dark fruitiness and pepper really don’t let up until deep into the after taste (or next morning).

Draft from Paradise Beer Weekend. Great looking beer! Deep ruby in colour with large off white head. Hoppy nose with raisin and rum to compliment. Thin body, deeeeeeeep flavour - sweet berries and spice; an odd contrast that works wonders. Nutty finish that ends all too abrubtly. Apparently this beer is better appreciated from the bottle, so will try to seek one out for a second rate.

Pours a hazy brown/red. Nice tart fruit, candi sugar, and a slight somkiness on the nose. Flavor is kinda smokey with a bready malt profile. Nice creamy finish, but the flavor left me wanting.

Taste yesterday from tap @ KBW Vichte. Aroma was complex: little spicy, sweet end fruity. Dark brown to black color, with very lightbrown head. Medium at full bodied. Taste, malty, dark fruits with caramel, much alcohol, with dry finish spice into the aftertaste.

2005 vintage Val-Dieu Winter from a 750ml bottle @ Hamiltons UCSD Beer Club Belgian Tasting. The beer lpours dark amber with a small thin head. The aroma is is sweet with notes of candied sugar. The taste is sweet with a bit of light carbonation. Amazingly drinkable, the alcohol is completly undetectable, I could drink a bottle and only realize when I stood up.

Bottle from Delhaize. Nice dark colour. Sweet, fruity nose. Caramel and sugary taste. Very nice and apropos for the holidays.
