Starts off with a strong head and aroma is quite fruity with citrus and tropical overtones. taste is highly malty, like a deep dark Sangria. Flavors are plentiful for a fruity Christmas dessert

This reportedly is the Grand Cru. It pours a muddy brown with little head. It is about three years old. Overall pleasant, and a drying rich taste. Definite dark fruit, pepper, and cocoa, well balanced.

Bottle. Pour is a nice brown with a dense tan head. Aromas are of nuts, burnt sugar and dark fruit. Flavor is a nice mix of the above with a high dose of alcohol that burns a bit around the edges. I would probably like this much better if the alcohol mellowed a bit, but at 10.5% I guess I have to resign myself to its presence. Extra high abv holds this back a bit in my opinion.

09/2008 drink by date on cork. Mahogany color with a thin head. Regal smell of alcohol, plums, green apples. Medium/full bodied. Good taste of brown malts pit fruits with a spicy earthy yeastiness. A great fire side sipper. 937
