Nice bready-sweet and yeasty spice flavor. I enjoyed this from a 750ml, so there was a slight cork flavor that added to the enjoyment. Nice wallop of alcohol, but I did not notice it until the glass was empty. Feinschmecker (190), Seattle, Washington, USA

A fantastic beer. Malty with spices, it’s Belgium yeasty aroma. There is a lot going on as far as flavor - raisins, plums. A very elegant beer indeed and not at all heavy. EHopper (348), Minnesota, USA

Sweet, overripe fruit flavor, but with some bite. Less alcohol warmth than expected and little aftertaste. A very enjoyable beer that I think others who don’t generally drink craft beers might like.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 2, 2006 Bottled. Pours a very dark brownish color. Sweet fruity aroma. A hint of alcohol is present. Very rich tasting. Slightly sweet dark fruit predominate this ale up front. Somewhat roasty. A hint of a grape-like flavor. Figs and maybe a hint of tobacco. Quite spicy. Alcohol is not really noticable, other that it’s warming effect. A good dark BSA. Quite enjoyable. bhensonb (4380), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Bottle. Rich aromas of dark malt and dark fruits. Near opaque brown color with a substantial beige/tan head. Full in body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is darkly malty (not toasted) and the fruits and spice are very tasty. A little heat interjects, but does not really bother the experience. Finish is mildly sweet, but some hop seems to be there for balance. bb (2941), Martinez, California, USA
