750mL bottle (2009) into an abbey glass. Pours cloudy reddish-brown with chunks floating all over the place. The aroma is sour Belgian with a backing hint of caramel, biscuit, and nuttiness. The flavor is extremely sweet with brown sugar, caramel, and a hint of sour laced with copper. The body is medium and the carbonation is high.

10/2007 cork as Val Dieu Winter. Pours dark brown, off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, candi sugar, malty. Flavor, malty and dark fruits; currants/prune , pronounced sweetness/sugar, yeasty, med-high carbonation. Flavorful, dark fruits really come forward and the finish remains sweet with warming abv.

Sample from a monster sized bottle at Darkness Day. Pour is lovely dark brown with a thick tan head that leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is that of roasted malts, caramel, candy sugar, alcohol and earthy hops. Flavor is sweet and alcoholic but decent. Palate is a bit boozy and a little thin but solid. Overall its a solid beer.
