But after warming up a bit, it became quite assertive and nice, satisfying. Maintained a nice effervescence through out the entire bottle. I am looking forward to trying come other beers form these guys. rickgordon (3300), Göteborg, Sweden

Clear deep golden. Sweet, malty nose with tones of vanilla. Flavour is malty, quite hoppy with notes of pineapple. ABV is shining through, as it should(?). Somewhat unbalanced sweetness, I believe. Very much like Tripel Karmeliet, but this one has more carbonation. jeffc666 (1891), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 14, 2004 Cork date 12/05 - presumably best by date. Clear yellow with some rather lively looking yeast colonies swimming about. Nice white head that leaves sheets of wispy lacing behind. The aroma is sweet honey, citrus, and little bit of pepper. Deeper inhaliations bring some definte alcohol notes. The flavor is not nearly as good as the aroma, sweet and alcoholic, very one-dimensional. Medium sticky body. My favorite triple is still brewed by an American, Allagash. JorisPPattyn (5171), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2004 Orange-gold; cream-coloured , huge & dense head. Vanilla, alcohol, white candi sugar in the nose. Very dry, candi-sugar dominated taste, sweet slight citrus fruit. Finish gives a bit more pepper, with just a touch of bitterness. Creamy, even a bit doughy mouthfeel; alcohol obvious and dry. Way too sweet tripel, very unbalanced. kumite56 (461), Cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2004 Decent Abbey tripel. Yeasty aroma and flavor. Cluudy body on a gold body with a large white head. Much particulate matter. Sl sweet tast with some balancing bitterness in the finish. Very comparable to Corsendonk. rajendra82 (703), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2004 Pale golden appearance is clear, as the yeast is not poured in the goblet. The head is tall, pillowing, and delicate. It does not stand well to the rigors of sipping. Carbonation is quite subdued for the style.
The aroma is perfumey sweet and a bit woody. The taste is also mild by Belgian standards with a bit of sweetened grain taste, and notes of oak, vanilla, apple, and pear. The taste becomes a bit more sharp and spicy after pouring the yeast in the glassware. There is a tinge of hop bitterness in the ending. The alcohol is very well hidden, and only shows up as a mild afterburn.
The beer is quite well made, but lacks enough character to run with the big boys. A welcome addition to my portfolio nonetheless
