There are toffee and fruit notes in the nose and the mouth where you then find nutty notes. A malty, dark and decent beer.

Quite a big fruity, malty beer, that is tasty, tangy, quite bitter and a touch dry at end, likeable stuff. Chatted to Vale about this yesterday thinking that this was the November special (but then saw Glen’s rating) but informed that it was a seasonal beer. Informed that whilst fairly similar to last years brew the recipe (malts) were slightly tweaked from last year. Its also worth noting that this beer was created initially as a dark, stronger (but quite different in my opinion) variant of the VPA. A really unusual beer this, very hard to categorise, it looks like a Stout / porter, but isn’t, drinks like a mild but isn’t. It looks thick, but is light and slightly thin, there are rich, fruity, blackberry notes from the off, a touch sweet, smooth and easy drinking. There are hops in the finish with hints of liquorice, hence the Premium Bitter category. Overall a pretty decent beer, whatever it is.
