On tap. Dark brown with a warm tint of red and an off-white head. Hard roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a solid base of hard roasted malt and a little licorice. Fairly malt bitter finish. 130709

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malt. Roasted malt and toffee flavoured, mild bitterness. Clean and vibrant roasted malt flavoured finish, on the dark toffee side.

Bottle sampled at Noog Four-0 5/31/08 courtesy of beerguy101: Pours a nearly opaque with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of dry smoky grainy dark malts and lots of black licorice. Body starts with decent fullness and earthy dark caramel and chocolate malts with a drier toasty grainy character and peppery black licorice before the finish. Could use some more sweetness for balance.

A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. In aroma, a pleasant sweet chocolate, roasted malts, and nice alcohol. In mouth, a nice light chocolate, some light metallic notes. Not bad. On tap at brewpub, August 27 2009.

Tap at the brewpub. Very black with a tan head. Smooth burnt/toasted malt aroma. Medium body with medium carbonation. Flavor is slightly sweet, like a Baltic Porter - but mostly bitter from dark roast malt. Finishes towards dry.

Tasted at the May Northern California Beer Tasting. This stout pours a deep black color from the tap at the brewpub. Medium sized beige foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee and roasty. A medium bodied stout. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. It’s a large stout without being over the top. Nice balance. Touch of dark fruit. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and somewhat roasty.

Cask. Dry-hopped. Black beer with a tan head. Chocolate, coffee, malt, and light roast aroma. Chocolate, light roast flavor with coffee, toffee, and backing hops. Medium bodied. Chocolate, coffee, and light roast lingers. Very nice and drinkable.
