Commercial Description:
Decadence Grand Cru is a blend of 8 month old Decadence 12 Belgian Style Quadruppel and our 3 year old Pomegranate Lambic. The resulting beer is an amazing treat for the sour lover. The Lambic was fermented with a combination of lab cultured Brettanomyces lambicus as well as naturally occurring Lactobacillus from the locally harvested Pomegranates. The bottles are then bottle conditioned 6 months before release.

Bottle shared by sliffy. Orange pour with a short white head. Aroma of sour, yeast, caramel malt and tart cherry. Flavor was of sturdy caramel malt that gives way to tart fruits and sour characteristics. Medium/thick body sour/dry tart with a sour/dry finish. Outstanding.

Sampled at the second annual Bistro’s West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Fest: Purs a hazy orange amber with a thin-lacing wispy white head. Sweet and tart caramel and light fruity complex oaky nose has nice enticing character. Body starts fairly full with a nice mild caramel sweetness and great, tart light fruity balance toward a crisp, complex drier oaky finish. Very well-balanced and authentic.

Bottle courtesy of aspidites sampled on 9/15/07: Pours a transparent orange bronze with a nicely-lacing spotty white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and tart cherries with good oaky complexity. Body starts fairly full, caramely sweet, oaky, lightly fruity and complex toward a drier finish. Nicely balanced, authentic and very enjoyable. A great Flemish sour.

Tap: Copper color with a full white head. The aroma is full of vinegar, Worshestchire sauce and alcohol. The flavor is spicy with a powerful alcohol flavor. I guess you could call it sweet and tangy. It has a great aftertaste - WOW! Yummy!

Draft at the Bistro’s West Coast BA Fest, 11/10/07; nose of oak, hops, fruit, light spices and tartness; copper with a small beige head; flavor of lemons apples, caramel, and only light tartness! Enjoyable!

Nip bottle shared by Dawn...Thanks!! I really enjoyed this brew. Poured a reddish copper with a little bit of head carbonation showing through. A nice funky lambic/sour ale that was very enjoyable. Lots of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The brett shows through some, and at 12 % alcohol...it is not noticeable at all.

Bottle courtesy of aspidites and shared with some folks at the columbus tasting...THANKS MIKE! Very interesting brew! Smelled kind of like a sweet tart! Taste was sweet and sour, citrus, apples, grapes, and some malts. Not quite as sour as I was expecting. Tickles the throat!

Poured an orange copper color with a thin off-white head. The aroma was fruity, tart and acidic. Light leather notes. Some cherry. The flavor was lightly acidic and mildly fruity. Some yeasty notes. Semi-dry and almost woody. Medium bodied.
