This is the 2009 release of our Grand Cru. We have decided to add this to our yearly rotation and release a different version each year. The 2009 is a Barrel aged sour, the base beer was a Wheat Wine and the barrel used is a 100% Cab Sauv. Port barrel from Costamonga winery. Big flavors of fig, pumpernickel and plum fruit. The finish is coating and tart.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours a cloudy - almost muddy - orangey brown with a small off-white head. Extremely delicious aroma of overipe fruit and wood. Medium body, caramel, intense fruit accents - dried fruit and overripe fruit. Lots of wood and a tart but not that sour finish. Really yummy. 100709

Stone Sour Fest 09. Dark cloudy brown, hints of red. Nose is somewhat mild, compared to other sours. Dark fruits, sweet, vinous, slight funk. More of an alcohol presence than many sours. Good, but not great.

Excellent sour. Dark red/brown pour. Dark fruit, plum, oak, bread, funky leather, brown sugar, a little bit of buttery flavor, vinegar, and berries. Complex, I don’t think I could drink a lot of this though.

Sampled at the 2009 Stone Sour Festival. Valley brew wins my vote for best brewery for the day. I was excited to try this one as the 2007 last year was outstanding. It seems its a different style which appears to be on purpose. I always like Cabernet Sauvignon barrel aged beers. This was no exception. Outstanding fruit and sour flavors. Exceptional brew!

Pours dark reddish brown with no head. Rich and full nose of dried fruits, brown sugar, oak, vanilla and a touch of funk. The flavor follows perfectly with a woody, lasting finish.
