Pours a still brown with some small bubbles. Nose is oaky, with a slight hint of vinegar, some sweeter port-like characteristics along with some vinous dark fruits and a bit of brett. I could see the base beer here being a weizen bock, but probably not if it was blind. Flavor has more vinous qualities, some more bretty tartness, oak, and a bit of the sweeter port-like flavors. Very, very smooth, I did not find it boozy at all. Tasty creation here. Thanks again, Steve!

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2007 Courtesy boboski. Pours a mostly clear, dark reddish-brown body. A small, bubbly, off-white head subsides quickly, leaving nothing behind. The aroma showcases bananas, clove, caramel, and both red and white vinous fruits. The flavor is complex, yet lacking direction. Fruits and vinous notes play very important parts, the port really begins to define itself, and the oak comes to the forefront, but it all seems out of place with the sweet banana notes and the dark spices. An unexpected touch of mint comes through as well. The body is just shy of medium bodied, smooth, and lacking carbonation (intentionally, but why?). This is an interesting creation, but not one that really blew me away. hopscotch (5490), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 7, 2007 Bottle… O-Town Throwdown Part Tres... This beer rocks!... Cloudy, dark, caramel-colored ale with a small, quickly dissipating, white head. Woodsy, acidic aroma with very restrained, if any, spice phenols. Vinous, prune and dry red wine flavor. Watery, coarse mouthfeel with hardly any carbonation. The lengthy finish is very dry. Wackiest weizen bock I’ve ever tasted… love it. Thanks boboski! Ibrew2or3 (2761), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Courtesy of boboski. Pours slightly hazy dirty brownish amber with weak white head. The aroma is wine, port, wood, oak and no weizenbock. The flavor is a brief maltiness that vanishes under a torrent of red wine fruitiness, tannins, some port and then wood oakiness. Interesting. A fleeting malty blandness is there for a moment. Enjoyable but a bit odd for the style. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2007 Sampled from bottle @ Throwdown 3 courtesy boboski. Dark copper color with not much head. Alcohol, spice, oak, pepper, and dark fruit on the nose. All melds together rather nicely. The alcohol is apparent on the taste but integrates well with the very dark and sweet character of the brew. A lot of dark fruit and caramel notes on the taste. The finish is oaky, sweet, and alcoholic. Nice.
