Commercial Description:
A Belgian-style Saison, also known as a Farmhouse Ale. A traditional Belgian beer brewed with very low hop bitterness and a spicey character. The Belgian yeast used to ferment this beer produces a complex mix of spicey and aromatic flavors. The beer is also complimented by the use of Licorice Root, Coriander, Grain of Paradise, Wintergreen and other secret spices during the brew process. This beer style was originaly developed as a beer that was brewed at the Farmhouse in the winter and used for nourishment all summer long for the farm laborers. Brew records indicate that as much as 5 Liters per day was conumed per laborer!!! Now that is a real employee benefit. The beer is very refreshing and a great treat for the beer enthusiast.

Bottled. Clear amber. Light spicy cinnamon aroma. Ligtly orangey with some soap and a fantastic soft, yet chewy malt profile. Light notes of grass, delicate mouthfeel. A subtle, complicated, wonderful little beer

Bottle. Rich amber color with a thin off-white head. Light spice aroma. Spice and light malt flavor. Lighter bodied. It would be nicer if there was a bit more flavor and the body wasn’t so watery. Slight fruitiness and some matallic tones. Low carbonation.

Breadlike aroma. Palate as dishwater... A malt tea. Thin, sweet and woodsy. Biere de garde to me (I know, they are closely related).

Tasted at the Bistro 2005 Belgian Fest. Orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head, strong lacing. Aroma is fruity and sweet, oranges and apricots. A medium to light bodied Saison. Malts are fruity and sweet. Apricots and orange. Bright yeasts, slightly spicy. Fairly sweet. Seems somewhat under-carbonated. Smooth taste. Touch of hop bite at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

beautiful spice and herb nose with a good balance of citrus. Wonderful spun gold color with nice release of gases. Very appetizing and soft on the palate with nice very soft liquorice and pepper notes. Clean and balanced finish.
