Commercial Description:
Our take on the traditional old style or oud Kriek but with an added twist of fresh pommegranites added as well as sour cherries to the fermentation. Fermented in an American Oak white wine barrel for 1 year.

Zeeland 08’ tasting. Huge thanks to Steve. Poured red without much head. Aroma was cherries, vinegar and mustiness. Taste was cherries, funk, leather, with a nice drying throughout. Man, this stuff was good. All flavors were really outstanding. I think this was one of the standouts of the night. Outstanding!

Generic 22oz Valley Brew bottle courtesy of WeeHeavySD -- what a huge hookup. Thanks!

Totally stoked to try this beer, all the more so for its being a Gilbert Shelton tribute. Pours a deep beautiful russet amber, hazy and lovely. Splendid beautiful nose. Sour cherries of cour, but also a rich caramel blended with saddle leather, cherry pits. Powerful and amazing flavor: initially very acidic until the palate acclimates, heavy on the leathery funk, underlying touches of sweetness, cherry pits, very tart pie cherries, funk....yummm!

Great beer. Top 10 sours, look out!

Shared by frumptydumpty thursday night at Glimmerglass camp grounds, pre-BCTC. Thanks Ryan for sharing all the sick beer. Nose is tart and full of sour red fruit. Flavor is more sour cherries, brett, leather. Lots of acidity throughout.

Bottle shared by FrumptyDumpty at Glimmerglass pre BCTC ’08. Thanks! Poured an cloudy bright amber in color with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is very tart with cherries and brett notes. Tastes of sour cherries, brett funk, oak and vanilla. Nicely carbonated body and quite a nice Kriek in general.

RBSG ’08: Poured a hazy amber color with an off-white head. Tart fruitiness with a base of malt and some leather funk. Excellent tart and acidic flavor. Very nice cherry and fruity taste. Medium bodied.

RBSG grand tasting courtesy of Aspidites. Pours amber with reddish hues, off white head. Very nice oaky, sour cherry, and funky aroma. The flavor has great balance between the wood, cherry/cranberry (I guess it was pomegranites), and dark belgian malts. Dry finish that is tart and acidic without going over the top. Very enjoyable beer, but I have yet to submit this rating to Ross for approval- one to see if it met his cut off for quantity of ratings per 24 hours, and two to see if I had enough ounces to warrant a rating (since I did not drink the entire bottle by myself). So far, Valley Brew is impressing me quite a bit. I need try more stuff.

Courtesy SoLan. Cloudy copper color, light white head at the edges. Tart sour acetic notes along with an earthy cherry tone. Tastes great - sour cherries, oak, white pepper, nice long sour finish buzzes on the tongue for a while. Well-carbonated. Very nice.

On tap at the Stone Brewery. Pours mohogany with a thin white head. Acidic and tart throughout. The cherry didn’t seem to be the focus, more soft and around the edges, more gueze-like flavor to it with just a softer tart cherry finish.
