Commercial Description:
Überhoppy Imperial IPA: Hops, hops glorious hops! There is no mistaking what this beer is; soft and delicate it is not. Überhoppy is meant to completely overwhelm you with resinous, floral, citrus and herbal hops barely balanced by a huge amount of malt that keeps the Lupulin onslaught from resulting in complete palate destruction. If you do not like hops, Überhoppy is NOT the beer for you, do us all a favor and either give this beer to someone with the intestinal fortitude to appreciate it or put it down and walk away. Überhoppy is brewed with 10 different hop varieties and a complete and utter disregard for common logic or sanity. Please consume this beer as soon as possible to ensure maximum hop freshness. Approximately 9.5% ABV.

Bomber shared kindly by redlight. Pours a golden amber with ample off-white head, nice lace. Citrus, pine and caramel on the nose. Flavor is tons of resiny, citrus, pine hop goodness, caramel mid, a touch of alcohol and a strong bitter finish. Very tasty. I love the tri-part punch pf resiny hops + not too sweet caramel + strong bitterness.

22oz bottle via trade. Pours a deep, mostly clear amber color with a frothy off white head, great lacing. Nose starts off with some deep pines notes then brings some citrus peel. Lots of toasted and sweet malts round things out. Flavor starts off with some bitter citrus then caramel malt starts to take things over, but never fully getting away from the hop bitterness with is how this brew finishes up. Started off a little underwhelming when it was cold, as it warmed, the flavors really started to punch through.

GABF 2009. I went to this booth first because I have been wanting to try this beer for a very long time. Pours amber golden with a white head. Aroma of floral hops and fruity esters. Pale malts in the background while a piney and grapefruit rind bitterness takes center stage. Not much residual sweetness. Semi dry finish. I suspect this was not a fresh keg.

Bottle from shawnm213- thanks, Shawn! This one is a gem. Pours a clear gold-copper with a small off-white head. Really nice aroma- citrus hops, floral notes, citrus fruits, and some sweetness. Plenty of hops and citrus make up the flavor, along with alcohol, malt, and a general earthiness. Better balanced than any other imperial IPA I’ve tried. Smooth, a nice bitterness, and a bite at the end. Excellent.

GABF. This was one of the Festival standouts for me. Nice, bright citrus aroma and flavor. Kind of reminded me of a hotter version of Sculpin, and I think that’s about as high of a compliment as I could give an IPA.

Bottle at Redlight. Orangey golden body. Smells like, well, hops. Lots of it. Really citrusy and evergreen hops. Tastes very hoppy but with really cool caramel malts in the background. Very smooth feeling, but stings your tongue at the end of it. Really nice.

GABF 2009: Clear, golden color with off-white head. Nose was severly fresh smelling, like sticking a hop bud up your nose...the flavors reiterate the hoppy freshness yet i think it’s a bit overly balanced as the malts get syrupy...and the alcohol makes it hot...so here, we have another syrupy hot double IPA..of which I can’t think of anything i hate more...but with very nice fresh hoppy flavors...i couldn’t drink too much of this.
