shp555 (1377), lilburn, Georgia, USA Jun 3, 2008 Pours a black color with a brown head. Aroma is tart green apples, coffee, chocolate, and some brett. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, tart green apples, caramel, some roast, and a dray tart brett finish. This is an interesting beer.
BrianK (73), New Jersey, USA Jul 28, 2008 Stone Sourfest. Nice concept but this one doesn’t really work. Tastes like a sour stout. Interesting though. fordest (1759), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jul 28, 2008 Sampled at the Stone Sour Fest. Wow, I really liked this one. Second favorite of the day. I fully enjoyed the aromas and the flavors. I had just finished talking to the brewer before I had one of these. He told me about the chipotle pepper aromas and flavors. I wonder if I would have picked them out. I think I would have. It was really there. A very interesting flavor to go with the sour. Very very good. DaSilky1 (1622), San Diego, California, USA Jul 22, 2008 Gothic pour, castanza like froth. Burnt, crispy, smoky, roasty nose. Flavors are predominately sour with heavy coffee and roasty notes as well. Somewhat overdone with all the huge flavors going on in this beer...the sourness is overpowering but so is the the huge smokey/char and roasty malt flavors...its all rather cumbersome...could probably do without the sour here. Did i just say that???? padrefan98 (643), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Jul 22, 2008 Sampled at the Second Anual Stone Sour Festival on 7/20/2008. This is a wierd sour ale. A whole bunch going on in this one. wetherel (1033), Carlsbad, California, USA Jul 21, 2008 On tap at Stone’s Sour Fest 2008. Black. Dark tan head. Malty aroma. Mild tart zing. Nice aroma some accurately described as chipotle pepper. I think that’s some comination of sour and smokey roasted grains.
