Commercial Description:
Seasonally available) This rare and complex beer is slow fermented then krausened and later frozen for 45 days. Between 5 and 7 % of the volume remains behind as ice, leaving a deep ruby color, a remarkably smooth and slightly sweet warmth with a brandy like finish.

Bottle. Very dark brown like a porter. No head or lacing, just a ring. Moderate carbonation. Aroma of raisins and dried fruit. Very sweet with definite raisin taste as well. Medium body. Slight roasty taste is overwhelmed by the sweetness and high alcohol. It’s pretty cool to have a rare style like this brewed locally.

341mL bottle, no date from Irishboy. Clear orange brown with a 1/4 finger brown head, low retention. Lots of syrupy sweet caramel and toffee up front with some light vanilla and toast behind. Flavor adds a very light salty soy note in addition to some burnt roasted malts, as well as some alcohol warmth and dark chocolate. Bitterness peaked at a 2-3 in the finish. After that, the aftertaste had a distinct nuttiness. Medium syrupy body with light to moderate prickly carbonation. Not too bad, but not my favorite eisbock.

Bloody wonderful is this stuff! If only we could get the price down a bit (thanks, tax-man). Only downside is the short season for this, i.e., available only around Christmas but well worth the wait. Buy a few extras and keep them in the fridge.

I think this bottle was aged as much as two years and that was a good thing. Poured black with little head to speak of. That meant understated carbonation. There was a tad of lace. Delicious rich malty, and that was in the aroma. Cocoa, and a touch of roast.More imperial porter, with above average mouthfeel, than the hoppy versions from a brewer in Niagara Falls of the same style.

Bottle shared by IrishBoy, pours prune brown with no head. Nose and flavor are sweet of molasses and some soy. Smooth on the palate.
