Bitterness too in flavor, and of course in the finish. Just another german pilsner. (051209) presario (2986), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Aroma comes in waves, with some grass and some light cookie. Fairly sweet with a building bitter finish. A nice example but not stellar. The bitterness and sweet character seem at odds.
2007 I would rate it a little higher on tap. Doggythedog (1590), Split, Croatia

Pale golden/yellow colour. Nice aroma of honey, malt and lemon. The taste was quite nice, though it was weak. Fruity malt topped by some bitterish herbal and lemony hops that gave a not unpleasant prickly sensation. Nice chewy, but subdued hoppy aftertaste. A nice little pilsener that could use more body. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 8, 2005 Ten years ago a pallet of Veltins was rescued from US Customs by my local beer distributor, Nicoletti’s. Story was the original buyer did not pay the custom taxes and Nicoletti’s obtained it at a discount. Cases (of bottles) were ten bucks and we bought multiple cases until the deal dried up. I’ve never came across Veltins again until a recent trip to Rockford, IL. Veltins was part of a Cost Plus mixed 12 pack. After popping the cap Veltins had a musty "european" aroma, light yellow color, and crisp flavor. Hey, it’s a classic German pilsner! I believe the flavor that Veltins delivers is what American macros should or may have once been. hammenlind (738), Sundbyberg, Sweden
