DocLock (4170), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle. Pale gold pour. Nose is mild hopcitrus, pale malt, honey. Tastes less watery than many pale lagers, with nothing offensive in the flavor, but nothing really standing out either. Fairly smooth, with some pale malt, hopcitrus, and mild caro syrup notes throughout.
leeburg (92), Appalachian Trail, West Virginia, USA Aug 29, 2008 Nice golden fizzy lager with some grassy and light malty aromas, a slightly sweet and highly carbonated sip ending with a metallic finish. As lagers go, I can certainly appreciate this. Definitely worth a try. bhensonb (3010), Woodland, California, USA Jun 29, 2008 330 ml bottle BB 060608. Cap had the BEPΓINA, but the bottle had Vergina. Golden color with a filmy white head. Fresh floral/grassy hop aromas. Near medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor seems rather citrus hop over pale malt. A little grassiness is noticeable in the finish. Lemongrass hop? Certainly rather different type of lager. Note from the web: BEPΓINA means Vergina, and that’s a small town in Macedonia. More: The Vergina Sun, Star of Vergina or Argead Star is the name given to a symbol of a stylised star or sun with sixteen rays. It was unearthed in 1977 during archaeological excavations in Vergina, in the northern Greek province of Macedonia, by Professor Manolis Andronikos. He discovered it on a golden larnax in the tombs of the kings of the ancient kingdom of Macedon.
Slipstream (392), USA Jun 19, 2008 The name of this Greek beer conjures up possibilities - what could it taste like? Pours pale with large, gassy crown. Handsome, conservative label. Not much smell - a touch of floral hops, mixed with steel. The taste is fairly typical watery Eurobrew, halfway between lager and pilsner. Some cereal, hops, and sweetness. The addition of lime turns up the metallic taste. phishpond417 (1459), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 11, 2008 This beer pours a pale, straw yellow golden colour with a medium sized white head. An aroma with plenty of malts, earth and a taste which has a very grainy texture. Tiny bit of skunkiness otherwise a fairly decent brew. SN11 (50), USA Jun 6, 2008 Had a few bottles of this at a Greek fest. Tasted great on a hot day. Can’t recall anything else about it. Want to try this beer again but can’t find it anywhere.
