A red beer with a beutiful white head. The aroma is sour yet sweet with notes of wood, over-ripe berries, plums, and prunes. The flavor has a great balance between the sweetness and the sourness with primary notes of wood and plums. A very nice beer.

(Bottle 25 cl) Remember having this for the first time on tap on a hot summer’s day in Lier, where it’s the local beer. Dark golden with a nice head. Presumably filtered. Some wooden notes, with touches of roasted malt showing through. Sweet’ n’ sour with emphasis lying on the sweet side. 120697

25 cL bottle, from fonefan. Pours clear and golden amber with a collapsing off-white head. Aroma is light citric aroma with a light sourish note, followed by a light sugarish note. Flavour is light sweet sugarish and with a light sour note. Ends lingering sweet sugarish.

Bottled. Hazy amber. Aroma of acidic grape juice. Dry and lightly balsamic. Citric acidity that is balanced by toffee and saccharine sweetness. More fresh and intense than complex, but I love this beer!

Bottle, 5.8% as Caves - het bier van Lier. Sweet, fruity, caramelly aroma with a nice underlying sourness. Muddy dark orange colour. No or very unstable head. The flavour is quite sour, nicely citric and vinegary. Quite sweet to balance. Reminds me of Goudenband, and is almost as good. This one has a lower ABV which can be a bonus.

Bottled. Amber colour with small beige head, which quite fastly vanishes almost completely. Aroma is wood, nectar and really sour fruity notes. Flavour is malts, sour fruits, spices and some vanilla. Once it warms up it gets quite rasp- and strawberries.

Bottled. Clear orange coloured with a small off white head. Acidic aroma of wood, glue and red wine. Flavour of glue, wood, fruits and red wine. Funny, but not my favorite flemish sour ale.
