The taste starts rich fruity and sour, however sweetness overwhelms everything else, and the after-taste is sweet as well.
Not to my taste - too sweet. I prefer Rodenbach - it’s taste is somewhat similar but without the sweetness which spoils this beer.

This beer tastes like balsamic vinegar. EWW, Im not sure what is going on with this. I enjoy sour ales and this was pitiful. I am sorry to those i shared this bottle with. LOW SCORE ALERT, well I meant to give this beer a low score, a sip and then a drain pour. KyotoLefty (1409), Kyoto, Japan
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Sweet and sour, though not at all acetic aroma, very lactic, very fruity, with caramel. Also medium brown with lots of orange. Sweeter, fruitier flavor, a bit sour, no vinegar. Creamy. Well balanced, but a bit normal. Slightly woody with a bit of tannin in the finish. Very nice balance of sweet and sour. Smooth and silky, with no harsh notes.

Aromas of fruit, berries, lambic. tastes the same, with lots of fruits, a bit acidic, lots of carbonation. Refreshing and tasty. savnac (422), Palmer, Alaska, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2009 On tap. Ruby brown with a tiny off white head. The aroma is cherries, wood and funk. Tart flavor at first then the sweetness comes in and balances it out, the sourness is there but not overpowering. There is a almost foamy mouth feel while it’s in your mouth and leaves a clean tart taste in the finish. This is a great beer, the oak flavor and the bugs give this one a great complexity. j12601 (1258), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours a lightly hazy brown with a medium to large tanned beige head that slowly falls off. Light wood and hay, touch of funk and some candied apples. Light apple and caramel, nice sweetness. Finishes with a nice tingly hint of sourness and some nice sweet wood notes. Not nearly as sour as I usually like, but an excellent introduction to the style. dirt55 (155), Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2009 bottled, pour very deep ruby with medium off white head, aroma of sour/apple/fig with bread, sweet and tart up front with huge carbonation, slight grapefruit flavor, clean residual tart flavor in end, zero hops noted, could drink it down like fruit juice hisskirt (5), California, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 9, 2009 A wonderful beer. Pours the color of old-fashioned birch-beer, with a lovely aged ivory head. In a tulip glass it smells like dreid figs & dark caramel. A lovely bright sweetness with a refreshing carbonation reminiscent of San Pellegrino water. Paris perfectly with cold ham slices on a hot summer day. Smooth, long finish.
