Dark amber color, with ruby shades; thick creamy head. Beautiful aroma, malt, caramel, liquorice, Porto wine, sweet & sour, notes of wood.
Full mouth, perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, fresh & fruity, grapes, raisins, wood, candi sugar, grapefruit; a faint astringency at the end. A 10 because in this style can't ask for more.
The bitterness doesn't succeed in dominating the palate, which is still pretty sweet.
One of the beers that I drink with the highest pleasure, my favourite summer thirstquencher, a classic.
[30-11-2001, 8-4-9-4-15]Wonderful example of Belgian red sour ale. Strong winy aroma; sweet flavour, bitter-sour in the mid, then the sourness is back in the final. Complex, fruity, sweet, sour, bitter... all!

Sep 5, 2008 Had at the Abbey, and shared by dragonstout. Thanks Brian!! Pour was a dark ruby red. Aroma was soured fruit. Flavor was berries, sour apples, and a hint of spice. I imagine this would be a good beer to try to get used to sours, if, like me, you do not like sours!

Sep 1, 2008 The big bottle poured deep mahogany with cherry tones and fluffy tan head. Smells of dark fruits with caramel notes. The flavor is definitely fruity and sweet, with a slight alcohol warmth. It’s a good tasting sour, but not too complex. Medium bodied with sufficient carb. Very tasty.

Aug 31, 2008 Bottled(250ml). -Reddish/brown coloured, small pale tan head, sour wine like almost vinegar nose. The taste is also vinegar, very sour fruity, light spicy and lactic with notes of caramel, wood and maybe glue. Strong sourness in the finish. Didn’t impress me.

Aug 30, 2008 On tap at Papagos. Notes of horse blanket, banana and spice. Wasn’t very sour - more sweet than anything. Pours brown with white head.

flavor is sour, raspberries, strawberries. very nice for a sour beer. (first one i tasted which was not sour due to infection, was much better than the bad ones)
