Pours a deep garnet red with a one finger beige head. The initial aroma is of red wine followed by expected Brett funk, and hints of straw, cork, and leather. Wow, huge plum flavor right off, followed by cherry candy and chocolate covered raisins. Hints of oak. I would prefer a more assertive Brett character to balance the sweetness a bit. Zero hop presence on this one. Medium body. Could be a good beer, but needs balance; as it is it’s cloyingly sweet. Perhaps this could be put down to an error in the blending process. Not a swigging or session beer by any stretch. This is one to be shared, and sipped, with friends.

Tastes fruity and then mellows to a tangy light hoppy aftertaste. Lightly carbonated. A treat Toxygen (182), Sanford, Florida, USA

Tart aroma; this is going to be a beer like no other, I can already tell--I keep going back and forth between "It smells so exotic and complex!" and "It smells like a rank gym locker." It kind of smells like Raisinettes candy covered in Sour Patch Kids sugar (for those in parts of the world where there are no Raisinettes, they are chocolate-covered raisins; Sour Patch Kids are a sour, fruity candy) . Very funky. Pours brown with beautiful lacing. Obviously, it’s sour, but not as sour as any of Lindeman’s Lambics. A little thin, maybe. Starts sweet, finishes sour. Vaiz (112), Netherlands
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 10, 2009 Pours a clear amber color with almost no head, just some slightly foamy bubbles. Complex aroma of red wine, vinegar, leather, wood and cranberry. Nice flavor that is a delicate balance between sour and sweet with hints of red fruits. Slightly sour, short finish. Medium carbonation. cfrancis (341), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2009 My first sour! Aroma is just like balsalmic vinegar. Pours a reddish brown with a thin almond head. Taste is, wait for it, sour. A really nice taste, completely different to anything I’m used to in beer. It’s going to take a few of these to develop my palate. I’ll probably have to come back to this and re-rate once I understand this style better. Hopper (323), San Antonio, Texas, USA

The aroma was like a balsamic vinaigrette at a fancy restaurant. The taste was sweet, acidic & salty. The sweet balances out the acidic pretty well with a thin palate. mixos (64), Greece

Very complexive aroma and taste that surprises you till the last drop. Very nice work. goldfish19 (47), Long Island, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Updated: Dec 6, 2009~ Purchased this bottle from Big Z Beverage in Huntington, NY. This sour ale pours a dark reddish brown with a huge foamy head that subsides rather quickly into some spotty lacing. The smell reminds me a lot of balsamic vinegar. There is a really nice sour and earthy smell going on here. The taste is a wonderful complex combination of sweet and sour. Absolutely refreshing! A little pricey @ $4.95 for a single 11.2 oz bottle, but hey, you get what you pay for right?
All in all, if you’re looking for a beer that’s unique and different—you’ve come to the right place! ~
