mcberko (122), British Columbia, Canada Oct 27, 2009 330mL bottle - pours a sharp red with a minimal head. Aroma is strong cherries. Flavour is sour berries, with a strong sweetness. Tastes more like cider than beer. Good, but I prefer Duchesse de Bourgogne to this. austone (997), Turku; Pori, Finland Oct 22, 2009 rate #900, keg at Black Door, Helsinki. Dark ruby, tight light pink head. Almondy cherry nose, mild flemish sourness and leather. Flavor is sour cherries, little currants. Shows it’s Flemish sour base nicely, not that sweet or sugary. Strongly carbonated, maybe a tad light palate. Very natural and classy beer. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Oct 9, 2009 Bottle from Sam’s in Durham. Pours light red with brown/amber hue. Fizzy soft pillowy near white (slightly pink) head. Nose is mild cherries and a bit of red wine or light balsamic vinegar. This is a mild kriek, or maybe I’ve been spoiled by too many big sour cherry beers. Some metallic notes that get in the way a bit, but decent overall, if not very exciting. witthatsbier (14), glasgow, Scotland Oct 9, 2009 fruity nose with hints of marzipan ,dry fruity sourish flavour from the whole cherries steeped in this brown ale
a belgian therefore a world great alexanderj (2204), Chino Hills, California, USA Sep 22, 2009 On tap at Beachwood. Color was a reddish amber. Aroma of sweet cherries and vinegar, not very sour per se. Flavor was the same; cherry, vinegar, cinnamon and spice; reminded me of Christmas, but not too sour. smooch (95), Sylvania, Ohio, USA Sep 8, 2009 I decided to taste this because I loved Redbach which used to be made by Rodenbach. Not a bad substitute, but has a little more "beer" taste than those. I’d like to say what exactly the flavor is, but it is there kind of mid palate. This one is pretty decent and it probably is old as I can’t imagine that most places in the US move a lot of this product. smcolw (310), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA Sep 6, 2009 No head on the glass presented--therefore, no lace. Beautiful light ruby color. Clear.
This beer reminds me of a cross between a spritzy wine and sweet fermented cider. There isn’t much "cherry" flavor here, but it is still very tasty. There’s a good "chew" to the body.
emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Sep 1, 2009 Pours a clean sharp cherry skin red with a fizzy pink tinged head. Nose shows a cherry skin tartness with some sweetness and spice. Mild woody notes. Not a lot of distinctive character. Flavor is much the same. Sweet cherry flavor with some tartness and a mild earthy character. Mild carbonation on the palate and a residual cherry sweetness.
