Nice clear reddish mahogany color with smallish fizzy head.
Smells sweet, brown candy sugar, vinegary, dusty fruit, hints at cherry. Smells like Duchesse d B. with a bit of cherry.
Sweet, slightly tart, vinegary acid, dusty cherry.
Pretty drinkable, but pretty sweet. dkazuk (247), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Clear red beer with a small pink head. Aroma is sour, woody, and vinous with a fair helping of cherry notes and some yeast. Tastes quite like cherries with a little sweet and a lot sour. Really interesting flavour. My first sour ale and I’m enjoying it. Light body, quick finish with no aftertaste. Not bad. Sip too big and it gets a little too sour for me. Good nonetheless. Cheers. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Taste is sweeter than most sour ales, but still relatively mild in that department, and a moderately long lasting flavor in the finish. Still, did nothing for me with it’s vinegary qualities. tomthompson89 (1473), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Great beer, but does not knock the duchess de bourgogne off the pedestal as my #1 flemish red style. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of sparking red wine! Ruby brown colors with a white(?) head that lasted for seconds. Oak aromas as the glass approaches the lips. Medium body with mild fizzy carbonation. Flavors of oak and cherry. Quite astringent. It’s not so much sour as woody. There’s some sweet cherry, but the sour and oak tend to overbalance it. Just a fantastic finish - which is much as went before. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 2, 2008 Amazing scent of oaky red wine, I have ever had a beer that smells like this. The beer is a gorgeous ruby red, soft white eighth inch head that sticks around. The taste is sublime, sour ad oaky, beautiful accents of sour cherry. A beautiful beer.
