tomthompson89 (1453), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 13, 2008 definate cherry red color little bit of pink head nose is cherry with some sourness in there too. flavor is sour with some nice cherry notes, maybe some vanilla , nice beer , not crazy but good lisalucy (3), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA does not count Feb 12, 2008 my opinion will probably be very biased as I love a sour ale, but this is fabulous. smells of oak and dark berries. the carbonation and woody backing enhances what otherwise might be a bit too much of a cherry taste. Great beer, but does not knock the duchess de bourgogne off the pedestal as my #1 flemish red style. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA Feb 4, 2008 Bottle. Reddish brown body, balsamic nose, small head. Moderately sour with balsamic, acetic notes, fairly substantial sweet malt backing, a bit oaky. bhensonb (4180), Woodland, California, USA Feb 4, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of sparking red wine! Ruby brown colors with a white(?) head that lasted for seconds. Oak aromas as the glass approaches the lips. Medium body with mild fizzy carbonation. Flavors of oak and cherry. Quite astringent. It’s not so much sour as woody. There’s some sweet cherry, but the sour and oak tend to overbalance it. Just a fantastic finish - which is much as went before. CanIHave4Beers (831), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Feb 2, 2008 Amazing scent of oaky red wine, I have ever had a beer that smells like this. The beer is a gorgeous ruby red, soft white eighth inch head that sticks around. The taste is sublime, sour ad oaky, beautiful accents of sour cherry. A beautiful beer. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 25, 2008 11.2 oz. bottle at Teresa’s Next Door, Wayne, PA. Poured reddish brown with fizzy head. Mild lacing. Delightful tart cherry flavor, but not overwhelming. Dances on the tongue. Would definitely revisit. scrizzz (1246), kirkland, Washington, USA Jan 17, 2008 very strong carbonation creates a spongy head and maintains. red with brown edges. raspberry, pie cherry, vinegar notes. smooth in spite of the strong wood foundation. the fruit essence finds a way to the sinuses as the mouthfeel ends with soft old yeast. DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA Jan 13, 2008 Copper-ruby color; sour cherry aroma. This is the Vichtenaar with cherries and you can taste the wood funkiness, tart sour cherries, slight wood and balsamic notes. I’ve had this in the bottle, on tap, cold, on ice and mulled. Fascinating and distinct brew.
