Small light tan head that is fleeting and spotty coarse lacing. Aroma is of brown sugar, old wooden barrels and apple cider, and a bit of the cherries. Flavor is mostly sweet cidery malts and of old wet barrel. Some cherries of the sour variety but not as tart and I expected from a FS. Nice mix of swet and dry, but seems to play the middle of the road rather than being outstanding in any character. Just OK.

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Sep 22, 2007 The aroma is nice with cherries, port, wood, and sugar. The appearance is red/brown with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall this is not bad for the style but I don’t like the style. talon1117 (620), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2007 BB 02-07. Pours a dark, clear, ruby-amber color with a fairly small, fizzy, pinkish-beige, mostly diminishing head and no lace. Nose is sweeter than I would have thought from how sour and acetic the original was; ripe cherries make up the grist with also, light sour cherries, faint apple cider vinegar, and plum skins, maybe even a bit of woody funk. Flavor is quite vinous and similar to the flavor; cherries between ripe and overripe, raisins, maybe a bit of cherry syrup, minimal acetic notes, and a musty-funky oak note near the finish. Palate is medium-light, lively, and somewhat quenching with some acidity. Finishes tart with plenty of funky oak notes. Nice cherry notes to match the tart notes of the Flemish. Not quite as acidic or acetic as the original but does benefit from the vinous notes and subtle funkiness. Good but not great. joergen (8523), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 10, 2007 bottle - Pours a beautiful ruby red with a thin head. The aroma is of very ripe cherries. It has a sweet, lightly tart flavor that’s just all cherries with maybe the slightest hint of some spice. This medium bodied brew was okay, but underwhelming when compared to the other offerings I’ve had from this brewery.
