greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jul 21, 2007 11.2 oz bottle. Pours amber with a nice reddish pink hue. Aroma of vinegar and sour cherries. The high carbonation allows the flavor to explode. Big tart cherry flavor, oak, vinegar. A bit astringent on the finish. Makes you pucker too at the end. Decent ale. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Jul 19, 2007 Updated: Sep 8, 2008Bottle, 6.8%. Very slow gusher. Good acidic cherry aroma with a hint of mold and sugar. Clear dark prune colour, small head. The flavour is quite acidic with some vinegar feel which is very nice. Turns into a sort of oxidized, old apple or cider notes with a little paper. On the whole, though, the vinegar flavour dominates and makes it a nice beer. 6 3 7 3 16
Draught, 6.8% at GBBF08. Beautiful clear deep red colour. Big stable dark pink head. Good sour cherry aroma. The flavour is also nicely citric. Good cherry flavour as well. Not acid but a good citric flavour. Very nice and quite well-balanced. 8 5 8 3 19 Fin (3376), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jul 14, 2007 Updated: Jul 15, 2007Bottle, Palace Hotel, Poperinge, West Flanders, Belgium, 26-06-07 Poured pinky red colour, with bubbles aplenty. Loz described this as like eating spangles where sometimes got you at the back of the mouth, I knew what she meant it was like that. Intensely dry at first but those cherries were so sharp lovely. Bart (1625), Vosselaar, Belgium Jul 3, 2007 Red pinkish coloured with lots of carbonation and a rather small white head. Sweet sour cherry aroma, some touches of wood/oak. Medium palate. Finish is sweet-bitter with some sour cherry touches. Rather good one. Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jun 27, 2007 330ml bottle. Tart, vinous and fruity aroma, very lightly acetic with notes of cherry, grape, faint oak, leather and an, herbal, leafy touch mingling with a gentle brown sugary sweetness. Clear red-brown in color with a fine, lasting, creamy head. Flavor is likewise tart and fruity with an undercurrent of sweetness and earthy oak, but seeming to evoke a blend of milky chocolate, coconut and cherry towards the finish, along with a certain faint metallic tang that produces some astringency. Smooth and semi-dry on the palate with a medium-full body. Apparently the base beer is Vichtenaar, and I do believe the cherry addition is worthwhile as it blends well with the existing profile and adds some complexity. TheCheeseMan (538), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Jun 23, 2007 Pours a brownish color with some re highlights, head is a tan, slightly pinkish color, lightly blanketing the sureface. Aroma is full on sour, sour oak, sour yeast, even a metallic wiff, sligh malt vinegar hints on the tail. Flavor is muted, almost discrete. Odd, I would have expected a more pronounced flavor. Bummer Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jun 13, 2007 Pours an amber color with some red in it and a pinkish head. Aroma is of sour cherries, oak, and some wild yeast. Flavor starts of tart of cherries and finishes with the oak. Flavor dies out pretty quick with not much of a lingering flavor. Decent but I’ve had better brews of this style. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium May 1, 2007 Tasted in bottle, very nice fruit beer. Better as most cherrie beers. Not made with sirup.
