Not as good as the Duchesse or the retired Rodenbach Alexander. Page 477 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide.

Bottle @ Chez Moeder Lambic. Brown color, runy highlights, thick head that didn’t last. Sweet and sour cherries in aroma and flavor. Cola mouthfeel. Tart and refreshing--lacks the challenge of a lambic because it’s beerier, and that’s OK.

[Sampled the sediments after beermouths and cabs weekdayparty.] From Verhaeghe you can expect good brews and thisone must be tasted again another day. Nice cherryaroma and flavor in the acidy way. Refreshing and not too sweet.

Deep clear amber with reddish notes and i fine slightly tanned head. Good strong cherry-nose with raisins, prune, preserved cherries. Nice high acidity and good strong sourness.

Bottle. Poured reddish brown with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour tart fruit aroma. Light to medium body. Medium sweet fruity flavor with a medium sweet finish. Smooth refreshing brew.

Pours a deep rich red with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma very distinct: sour cherries (black forest cake!) and red wine. Tastes just like it smells - more cherries, less wine, but a lingering dry sweet/sour aftertaste. Very little in the way of hops. Numbing sensation in the aftertaste, thin body but unique - slightly over-carbonated. Good beer with great character, but lacks some variety in palette. Not my cup of tea, but nonetheless well done.

Pours with a red tingedd head. Aroma of oak and cherry. A decent sour/red with a hint of cherries. Kind of tart, not much sweetness.
