harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Jul 24, 2005 Cask Canterbury beer festival. 2 draught foreign beers were on at any one time during most of the festival. This had a whiff of cherry, a bit like the Liefmans. Good sourness but the cherries don’t over power it. Good kriek beer with good balance. Maybe could do with a touch more malt mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 6, 2005 deep ruby red, light pink head. aroma of cherries, oakmalt vinegar, cherry candy and lemon. flavour has a hint of cinnamon I always seem to notice in krieks. flavour has jammy cherry flavous with balancing lemon and woody malt. nice. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Jun 30, 2005 Bottle. Pours light red with minimal light head. Nose is alcohol and cherries. Taste is fizzy, cherrys and alcohol. hawkshadow (102), Rural Retreat, Virginia, USA Jun 29, 2005 Pours a beautiful red with a slowly diminishing pink head, no less!
Aroma is a little weak but nice. Vinegar, cherries (of course), light wood-smoke and sweaty yeast.
Taste is mild but nice. Slightly sour, somewhat sweet. Mouth puckering a little. Aftertaste fades quickly from lightly sour, tiny bit bitter.
Overall it’s nice, but of Verhaeghe, I like Vichtenaar a little better. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 27, 2005 Deep ruby pour with medium, creamy, white head. Aroma of big tart cherries, some port and malt. Tastes tart cherryish, with a medium, fruity, smooth finish. Very nice! BigBastard (668), L.A., California, USA Jun 23, 2005 Smelled really good, like fresh black cherries. Strong tart cherry flavor, almost a sour candy quality. Sampled with some dark chocolate and it really perked up. Great with food, but not so great on it’s own. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 15, 2005 Updated: Jul 7, 2005Clear, rosy hue and a pink, sudsy head. Tart and sweet cherry nose with some woody barnyard character. Strong cherry flavor with some fruit peel quality and a tart, puckering finish. Too sweet and lacking in depth. Like a cherry-laden horse that runs for the pink team. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 10, 2005 Sampled at le Mondial de la bière 2005. Pours a clear dark red color with a thin offwhite head. Sweet aroma of cherries. Sweet and sour flavor of cherries. Light to medium body, soft carbonation.
