noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Dec 27, 2008 Full aroma of sweet cherries and oak. Pours a clear deep red with a compact pink head. Flavor is cherries and vanilla, whose sweetness offsets a long bitter woody finish. Dry on the finish, has the sensation in common with many dubbels where it seems to evaporate off the tongue. More a sipper than a drinker. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Dec 22, 2008 On tap at B2B. Deep dark copper red in color with a off white head. Sour funky cherry grape aroma. Yeasty fruity flavor. Sour cherry notes. Tart cherry taste. Finish is sour. Very nice. Very drinkable. trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 12, 2008 Never seen a redder beer in my life - beautiful. Looks like a much redder Duchesse. Mild, pungent, fruity aroma - predominantly cherries and grapes. The flavor is more superficial than Duchess, with more cherries and a bit more tartness. Possibly a bit metallic / artificial. Still very good, but no Duchesse. Lagunitasfan (432), San Diego, California, USA Dec 4, 2008 Updated: Feb 11, 2009On tap at Stone. Yum Yum Yum. Smells sour with a background of funkiness. Farmy undertones. Wonderful brown red color. Taste is good, but the leftovers are great. This funkiness in the aftertaste hangs out and bounces around the mouth for a long time. The quote I wrote at the time was the leftovers hang out and party in my mouth. gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 30, 2008 Bottle. Red -golden-brown colour with a red-beige head. Aroma is sour, cherry, yeast. Flavour is sour, cherry, yeast, sugar. Nice beer. Travlr (695), Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 29, 2008 A full-bodied brown ale made with cherries. Has an intense fruit flavor, but no sweetness - and yet, doesn’t have the sourness of a lambic. Worth trying. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Nov 27, 2008 Pours attractive garnet color with no head. The nose and the flavor are full of vinous over ripe fruits and balsamic vinegar. Gar4016 (24), , Iowa, USA Nov 21, 2008 33cl bottle
Pours dark red with a hint of brown. Little to no head. Smells sour with cherries, a little vanilla, little oak. Taste is quite sour like it could almost be lambic based yet still like a flemish sour. Overall sourness immediately with cherries, oak, and ends light and dry. Tough to believe 6.8% alcohol!
