Aug 25, 2002 Updated: Nov 28, 2008Fresh: Rich ruby colour. Acetic, lactic aroma with cherry candies. Oaky, fat, tangy, voluptuous. Port-like accents. Slightly candyish finish, with a hint of acetic acid.
Aged, Vichte Vera, rated November 22/08
Light brown. Hazy. Rich, almost malt vinegar nose. Wood and sweet fruits on the palate, only a little bit of sourness. Strange stuff, but this is also really old stuff so the fruit is muted and the weirdness accentuated. I rated this aged version 7-3-7-3-14 = 3.4

Dec 25, 2005 Ruby color; big head. Lovely aroma, with sweetness, sourness, cherry fruitness. Good sweet taste, but missing some more biting sourness; lightly vinous.

Jan 4, 2008 Red with short lasting white head. Balsamic aroma with tart and cherry notes. Acidic and tart flavor with natural cherry notes. Very nice.

Jun 24, 2004 Small pink head atop a clear, deep red body. Aroma is mild sweet, sour cherry, oak. Taste is mild sweet, some sour, cherry, and some offish flavor -- sort of an astringent bubblegum. Light-medium, tart body.

Deep cherry red color, small reddish head. Sour aroma of vinegar, berries and oak. Sour cherry flavor, some sugar sweetness, tart finish with some sugar. Standard cherry Flemish sour ale, not really complex, but reasonably drinkable.

Jul 24, 2005 Cask Canterbury beer festival. 2 draught foreign beers were on at any one time during most of the festival. This had a whiff of cherry, a bit like the Liefmans. Good sourness but the cherries don’t over power it. Good kriek beer with good balance. Maybe could do with a touch more malt
