Aromas of mild wood and vinegar, before a canned sweet cherry note takes over. Some sourness in the mouth, along with a bit more cherry, some light malt, lemon, and a hint of wood. A strange mix of tart and sweet. If the sweetness didn’t taste so much like overly processed (or artificial) cherry, it would be much better off. Overall it kind of bridges the sour gap between Liefmans and Rodenbach Grand Cru. Not bad. dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA

The beer pours a mahogony with a pink fizzy head. There is a tartness to the body with a sour cherry a malty sweetness balance. GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland

A little on the sweet side and I’d prefer a more agressive sourness. jeremytoni (1108), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

Smells slightly malty with a cough syrup cherry smell as well. Tastes earthy malty up front with a tart, fake cherry flavor through the middle to the finish. Medium body with ok carb. Not a favorite for me. I’d be surprised if real cherries were used to brew it. Sickboy282 (1098), San Diego, California, USA

MOuthfeel is medium bodied with flavors of ummm.... cherries not as tart as many sour ale tend to be. A little dry, with little aftertaste. csbosox (1081), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 18, 2006 0.33L bottle, bb 18-10-06. Served in my NB worthy glass right from the cellar at 52°. Dark red color, reddish tinted, white head, smallish but fluffy. The beer and foam coats the glass when swilred. The aroma is red wine, red wine vinegar, oak, vanilla, and a touch of sweetness. The cherries don’t assert themselves, in fact I cannot discern them from the rest of the aroma. Yup, this is a flemish sour, wasn’t sure when I bought it. The initial taste is sweet and sour cherries with a bit of oak and yeast? The mid-taste is vanilla, oak, and a bright cherry flavor and cider with a bit of mouthpuckering sourness, but not as much as a non-fruit Flemish sour. The finish is moderately sour with some oak and a touch of brett? or some other lambic-ish funkiness. The funkiness is far from overwelhming, but adds a bit of flair at the end. This is pretty tasty, I kinda dig the cherry with the flemish sour.
