| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2005 Much compact and brittle head, little long-lasting. Red clearly color, lightly pinkish, much elegant and fizzy one. Complex and winy scent; notes of sour black cherry, must, red grape and cellar...very balsamic. Extremely stinging and racy taste. Pleasant must, tangy and cherry notes even if lightly top heavy and dry on the end. Little perceivable bitter. agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

Mild lacing. Delightful tart cherry flavor, but not overwhelming. Dances on the tongue. Would definitely revisit. MesandSim (5941), London, Greater London, England

Re rate following Croydon Belgian Festival. I must have had a bad bottle of this as my second attempt was much much better than my first. Also since then I have really enjoyed it every time. Very very similar to the Vichtenaar just with more fruit. Wonderful body, great finish. Maybe it has just grown on me...

(I better rate this one quick before it gets drained! Not too good to be honest. A strange chocolate hint to the aroma and the flavour. For me it doesnt really work that well. Goes down quick and easy though! Damn these 25cl bottles!) Rciesla (3790), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Pours a dark, clear, ruby-amber color with a fairly small, fizzy, pinkish-beige, mostly diminishing head and no lace. Nose is sweeter than I would have thought from how sour and acetic the original was; ripe cherries make up the grist with also, light sour cherries, faint apple cider vinegar, and plum skins, maybe even a bit of woody funk. Flavor is quite vinous and similar to the flavor; cherries between ripe and overripe, raisins, maybe a bit of cherry syrup, minimal acetic notes, and a musty-funky oak note near the finish. Palate is medium-light, lively, and somewhat quenching with some acidity. Finishes tart with plenty of funky oak notes. Nice cherry notes to match the tart notes of the Flemish. Not quite as acidic or acetic as the original but does benefit from the vinous notes and subtle funkiness. Good but not great. jeremytoni (1122), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
