Dark chestnut color. Large head. Malty aroma with a heavy fruitiness and hint of sourness. Some sourness in the flavor. Earthy. Light-to-moderate hops in the background. Fairly dry. Dusty. This might be off.

Bottle - thanks to Jeppe for the free bottle. Unclear dark brown - offwhite head. Chokolate, berries, roasted, fruity, yeasty, light dirt - earth, forrest, dark fruits, dark malty. Just another belgian.....

Cloudy brown body with a large off-white head. Faint aroma of baked pie crust (Aroma was much weaker than the Fagnard Blonde. Thin body, taste is initially generic factory cake followed by a fruity dessert followed by a bitter finish. Weird but interesting. A good beer that suffers from being the sister of the excellent Fagnard Blonde. Why have the Brunette when you can have the Blonde, which reminds of the Parker sisters because… well, that’s another story.

Bottled. (BB 051231) Unclear, orange-brown beer with a small beige head. Lambic-like sour aroma with citrus, caramel-notes and cellar. The flavor is a bit sour as well, with malt, yeast, mould, cherry and hints of alcohol. Medium body and a finish that is sour and sweet, with some salty licorice as well. The BB-date might have something to do with the sourness, which I am not sure was intended, but I didn’t dislike it. (060914)

Chestnut brown with a red hue. Huge and creamy, off-white head. Vinous, malty and fruity aroma. Flavours are caramel sweet with some sour notes. A bit thin body despite its strength.

(Bottle 33 cl) Comes as "Biere des Fagnes Brune". Beautiful, dark brown beer with a red tint. Pours clear but has an impressive, yeasty sediment. Nice, dense and quite stable head. Pronounced notes of chocolate and malt, but more dry than sweet. Only a weak hint of bitterness in the finish. Nice. 210102

This is a very good Belgian Strong Ale. Fruity, sweet, and malty flavors. Finishes clean, crisp, and dry.
